PD's faux pas was announced on my thread in the days he was known as 'A Proper Iron' and threatened anyone that made fun of him by challenging them to meet him in The Duke by the pool table.

It was a thread I put up Eddie B'ing an email from one of these scammers saying something like 'I've hit the jackpot'

He came on with a serious helpful post warning 'Don't reply to it mate, they're scammers. I got done with a similar thing last year and lost £4k'

I actually felt sorry for him as all he was doing was trying to warn me... I mean, it didn't stop me laughing my head off and poking fun at him.

Who knew, a couple of name changes later he would become one of my favourite posters.

Indecently, on that thread I posted updates for a few weeks of the replies I was getting from the scammers and taking suggestions on what my replies should be.

eventually they gave up after telling me the money was hidden under a bed and me pointing out how high the bed must have been after researching the thickness of each note.

I'd like to think I have more of a life now...

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks belief in God is a sign of gullibility - a sign, not proof, before anyone claims I'm saying ALL believers are thick

So you DIDN'T actually get scammed?

And I presume you've never had a problem with printers before either?

There ARE still people on here from those halcyon days you know.

Re: 419 scammers
Had two African chancers try the money wash scam on me in Hong Kong in 95.

They have shoeboxes full of dirty US dollars which had to be made dirty to smuggle.them out of the impoverished shithole area of their impoverished shithole country.

They demonstrate how to clean a dollar with a special cleaning fluid of which they only have a tipped size bottle.

They need gallons of the cleaning fluid to clean all the dollars in the shoe boxes.

Of course a big bottle.of this cleaning fluid costs as much as they think they can push their luck and they are offering you half the dirty dollars.

Fuck off back to Nigeria.

Looking back with the benefit of hindsight I wish I'd gone along with it and got the plod involved and stung the fuckers.

Assuming it's still going www.419eater.com is worth a visit, especially if you get to read-up on the "safari" they managed to send some scammers on.

Website also provides advice on how to play these cunts along, but also setting out various warnings, etc - eg get a seperate email account and different phone number etc if you want to do this, etc

Yes, it was me. I got an email very similar to this then went off to the bank and wired 2k to Nigeria. At least that is what I said on here anyway, around 100 years ago.
